This course will examine the history of still life painting, considering the objects depicted and their overall visual context. We will also look for inspiration outside of the genre by considering how subjects such as narrative figure compositions could influence a still life arrangement. Lectures on contemporary and historical painting, demonstrations, material explorations and exercise prompts will prepare participants to create their own poetic still life painting".
